About the Sculptures and Awards
The Sculptures and awards line is a accumulation sculpture and award work that Charles has made throughout the years. The main things Charles focuses on when designing these are emotion and function. Often times clients will have a word, person, or artifact, and it’s up to Charles to come up with some design that conveys that emotion accurately as well as balance it with the function that it’d be an award they’d love to hold, and receive. Charles has often been fascinated with basic shapes, and as a result creates cradles to hold them. Much like the other lines of his work, this line is also inspired by his mother’s quilting work. The other concept that has been a main source of inspiration is taking a common household item and giving it a new perspective so that it becomes something artistic.
